England - the countryside

The English countryside offers countless distinct looks, from winter fog with bare trees, to spring-time storms and rainbows, to beautiful summer landscapes. The winter rains bring  the clouds, then the sun and changeable weather that is the English spring. Here is an ever-growing series of photographs from the Cotswolds, the Chilterns, and the Vale of White Horse Ridgeway path, England's oldest road dating to the Iron Age. Also featured are images of the upper Thames river and to the Wessex Downs, and the Dart river estuary in the southwest.
