Architectural Abstracts
Across the cities of the world architecture becomes an abstract interplay of light, geometry, shadow and rhythm. From Calatrava’s luminous Oculus and his masterpiece in Valencia to Meier’s sculptural Getty Center, each structure transforms the urban landscape into a study of form and space.
Salton Sea
Born from a flooded river, the Salton Sea rose as a desert playground before retreating into ruin. Its abandoned shores now hold a haunting beauty—and an environmental warning carried on the wind.
TWA Flight Center JFK Airport
In the stillness of the pandemic, Saarinen’s TWA Flight Center became a stage for sculptural curves, vivid red accents and the timeless elegance of mid-century design. Photographing from dusk to dawn, I explored the interplay of light, shadow and architectural detail, revealing the building’s quiet drama in rare solitude.
Mojave Desert
Across the Mojave, Interstate 40 swept travellers away from Route 66, leaving sun-bleached towns, silent motels and rusting petrol stations to dissolve into heat, wind and sand. Following the old road from Barstow to the Arizona border, this series finds flickers of renewal among the haunting traces of a vanished American journey.
Disney Concert Hall
Frank Gehry’s Walt Disney Concert Hall transforms downtown Los Angeles into a dance of steel, light and fluid geometry. Photographed across changing seasons and skies, its sculptural surfaces reveal an ever-evolving interplay of reflection, shadow and form.
Iceland
Iceland’s southern coast unfolds as an ethereal world of fire and ice, where glaciers emerge from the fog and luminous icebergs meet black volcanic sands like sculpted glass.
Sagrada Familia, Barcelona
Gaudí’s Sagrada Família transforms stone into a luminous forest of soaring columns, intricate geometry and radiant colour. Through black-and-white and colour photography, I explore the interplay of structural power, natural form and spiritual light.
England
England’s countryside unfolds like a living tapestry, where ancient oaks, silver birches and riverside rowans stitch their silhouettes across mist-veiled fields, quiet waterways and wandering footpaths. At dawn, horses rise like shadows from the loosening fog while ducks glide over still ponds, and the landscape seems to breathe itself awake
Calatrava in Dallas
Calatrava’s Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge becomes a kinetic study of steel, light and geometry above the Trinity River. Captured from a moving car, its soaring arch and cables dissolve into shifting abstract patterns of motion and form.
Patagonia
“There is something about the expanse of Patagonia, a kind of haunting soulfulness, that affects you physically. Few places grab you like this and hold on so tightly and for so long.” — Kristine Tompkins, former CEO of Patagonia, Inc.
